Meet ideas for Essex....
#1
Right....
Following the fiasco that was the Halfway House is it or isn't it thread, I have agreed to take on the role of Regional Organiser for SIDC - Essex.
In order that I do at least a half decent job, I would like to hear ideas from the Essex, Kent and London contingent as to the kinds of social events you wish to see.
Im hoping to co-ordinate with the Kent Organiser (Colin?) so we don't clash, as I know there would be support for each others events.
OK, lets hear your thoughts.
James.

Hey... Im there already
Im anxious not to clash with such things as the Fleet Meet as I know a few Essex people go there regularly. Our Treasure Hunt last November was well supported by S.E. people.
Perhaps we could consider alternating the Fleet meet between Surrey and Essex... could be a monster
Also after other ideas such as Karting, Treasure Hunts, BBQ's, trips to events such as the Motor Show etc. etc.

I think Pat was going to organise a meet at Rayleigh Kart track, I'd love that to happen.
Lakeside carpark 'zorst testing .
Dartford tunnel convoys whenever possible, twice a week at least .
I'm lookin for a meet in a pub with a good kids play area, the one on top of Laingdon (sp?) hills is great where the treasure hunt started, as long as the food is arranged LOL.
I'll help out where I can mate.

I also think the Rayleigh Karting idea is a good one , I used to work there , and they can arrange race meets for groups of 30-40 participants , it used to be like a mini LeMans 24hr , first team (usually 5-8 to a team) to complete something like 200 laps . So if anything like this can be arranged , count me in !

Gary,
Ipswich karting to Basildon 35 mins - why's your scoob so slow. lol. sorry late night & thought I'd scare the old man....no real need to those kinds of speeds - but it's fun on a virtually empty A12, crap at the karts though - be interested in any essex meet -newbie, in Tenerife for last weeks battle of the meeting grounds- about to read page 2 of another thread in a minute.

Since we are all up for karting, why not do it properly? Used to live in southend, and the rayleigh track although fun, isnt up to much compared with an outdoor track.
daytona raceway. milton keynes, outdoor track. Not far from essex, herts, suffolk, a stretch from kent but could be a laugh.
Other option is a radio controlled car track day.
Southend rccc is great fun on sundays.
No rules stopping is from taking over either. we just sign in as guests and make sure we have lots of ranges of crystals.
Just a suggestion which could be a laugh.
Don't know if I have a working car, but they are generally electric 10th scales with no motor limits.
Dont want to scrap karting and pub meets thgis is just another suggestion.

I'm kinda south east kent (tunbridge wells) so somewhere near me would be nice

Nate,
I wish - TLC, besides - it's by no means paid for yet !!!
all,
I've heard about endurance carting - never done it but I understand that it's not too expensive and you can enter in largish teams, which then may also benefit those of us with kids because we can all get involved in laughing at dad etc, when he complains that these bl**dy carts are only 1 or 2wd !

Hi
I'm up for a meet, just let me know where & when. Re the karting, I'm not far from rayleigh, gather they're closed for track mods or similar at the moment - don't know the detail. Got a visit with work provisionally planned for may tho'.
If you're into the bigger ones, Deavinsons Leisure run a fun outdoor track with twin engine 70mph karts at Rye House, near Hoddesdon, Herts. Not been for a couple of years though so don't know the cost.
Also heard that Buckmore park in kent is fab!

OK, been in touch with Deavinsons about an Endurance Karting event.
Outdoor Kart-Prix track, 75mph GT1 four stroke karts.
Watch out for Flyers / True Grip in the near future
Im also scoping pubs for a regularish Sunday Lunchtime meet.
Need suggestions of Child (and dog?) Friendly pubs with largish Carparks in 'safe' areas.
The Crown at Langdon Hills (start of last treasure hunt) is one option, but I need to check on the state of their refurbishments.
Also quite fancy The Owl in Epping Forest for summer meets as they do a good barby.
These pubs are great for those in the south, but lets have some suggestions from the North of the county
Thanks for your suggestion Guys keep em coming
James.

Did an Endurance event at Rye House -- we had three drivers and 2 hours so we thought 40 mins each would save time on driver changes. Wrong! None of us could keep the concentration going for 40 mins at a time.
I'd definitely be up for some karting at Rye House.
