On the subject of this, I got a fax from Darren LLoyd, yesterday.
As you will know Darren is shown in True Grip as the Regional Organiser for Essex.
He has asked me to point out that he did not give permission for his name and number to disclosed and although he had previously written to say he was prepared to organise this meeting, he does not now wish to organise any SIDC events.
Pat Herborn has kindly agreed to take over this role and can be contacted at

I would like to point out that the regular meetings held in Essex that I referred to above are in no way connected with the SIDC. They are friendly meets of local and some not so local Impreza owners. The venues of the meetings can change to aid some owners who live farther away.
Anyone interested in the original, regular meet for Essex should contact the organizer at

So Doug, are you saying that the "original" SIDC meet, which Darren wrote to me asking to set up for SIDC members, IS NOT NOW FOR SIDC MEMBERS?
This wouldn't involve Dick Grimes would it?

Pete
I did not say the meet is not for SIDC members.
Some people seem confused as to who has been organizing the meetings. I have attended the Half Way House meets for the past 5 months and none of them were organized by the SIDC although there have been several SIDC members who regularly attend.
I think the point here is that Darren is not a member of the SIDC and he has made a successful job of organizing a regular Essex meet, something the SIDC has never had since I joined in 1999.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the SIDC, in fact I have found my past membership to be both informative and rewarding. Only last week one of my customers joined through my recommendation.

Don't know how you can be a regional organiser and not disclose your details... kind of defeats the objective does it not?
Anyhow, Pete, if you get stuck for an Essex organiser, as in the past, I'm always happy to help out
James.

So just to clarify then....
The meetings that have been going on for the last 5 months or so on every 2nd Thursday of every month, is not run by the SIDC, but is infact a small gathering of like minded Subaru owners, organised by a bloke called Darren????????
This is getting a bit like eastenders...'who shot Darren?'
What is going on? & when?

OK, OK I have just got off the phone from Darren Lloyd.
He confirmed to me that he is NOT a member of the SIDC anymore and stressed that the successful meetings that are run every 2nd Thursday, have nothing to do with the SIDC.
He also pointed out that the club meeting HE organises on the 12th April (2nd Thursday) is very much still on, BUT NOT AT THE HALF WAY HOUSE and all are welcome (nothing 2 do with the SIDC!).
If you want to add to the numbers, contact Darren direct to find out the NEW location on lloydd4@talk21.com
Cheers, Jacko

Good grief
It seems that Essex meets are like busses... you wait around for one and then two come along
I've never heard of Sidelines, but can assure everyone coming to the Halfway House that no one there will not be attempting to sell you anything.
So don't bring your cheque book, your presense and tales to share with fellow enthusiasts, over a pint, is all that is required.
Out of interest Jacko, I've never heard of Sidelines so who is this mysterious owner?

Its tonight (Thurs) at 7.30pm
Venue is the Halfway House pub on the A127. If you are coming from the West/South, take J29 from M25 and head towards Basildon. From the North/East, its on an east bound slip of the A127, between Basildon and the M25.
