SIDC Hertfordshire Meet 2nd June
#1
The date is Saturday 2nd June from 12:00 onwards at The Red Lion in Hatfield. Directions are given at the bottom of this post.
All proceeds will be going to Great Ormond Street Hospital children's charity so please make an effort to turn up even if you cannot spare all afternoon. We've chosen a meeting place which is just off the M25 and A1 so it is easy for anyone in the South East to get there.
There will be a small entrance fee which will allow you to be entered into our competition. The competition is called a Pub Quiz. The principle behind it is quite simple - we give you a route which takes you on the best scooby A/B roads and through the most picturesque villages in Herts and West Essex - all you have to do is make a note of the pub names as you pass them. The first prize for the competition is a bottle of champagne. However there are penalties imposed (to benefit Gt Ormond St rather than the local constabulary) if you do it faster than I did it, the winner is the person who is closest to my time and distance with a correct list of pub names. Simple - and a cracking drive too! You can even bring a road map and a navigator, the route will take you a lot less than 2 hours - if you don't get lost.
In addition there will be loads of different Scoobies there, Quenby's the local dealer has volunteered to bring their WRX demonstrator and a WR P1, and there will be merchandise from SIDC and Scoobynet.
One word of warning however if you turn up with a dirty or damaged car, or worse still a car that is not a Scooby then you will have to put some pennies in the charity bucket!
The pub is dead easy to find just follow the brown tourist signs to Hatfield
House from the Junction 4 of the A1(M). Turn off the roundabout, towards
Hertford A414(still signed Hatfield house. Keep in the left hand lane along
the A414 and turn off to the left. Keep following the signs to Hatfield
house(along Hertford road) the pub is at the traffic lights just before
Hatfield House.

Excellent glad you can make it, for those who can't we'll have plenty more. I spoke to Quenby's and they are going to try and come with their WRX demonstrator and P1 WR depending how busy they are.

By pass out I guess you mean the other half.
There is a big shopping and cinema complex the Hatfield Galleria which is a couple of minutes away - so if she doesn't want to come you can drop her off there (without cash of course!)
There is also a big outdoor and indoor playground for the kids nearby if you have Rugrats.
And nearby there is a big Tesco (just popping down to Tesco's dear!)
