Default Why is SN so slow

As above really.

Why is is seriously slow most times?

Also, many times when I try to access it, it can't be found.
I end up just refreshing the page 5/6 times, or try another forum in SN and then it starts to work?

Shaun

Its all these bl**dy adverts, its what keeps this site at the top, thus more and more people want to advertise on here, means we the users are the ones that have to put up with this pain in the ****.

No it hasn't always been slow. It's true that the load and the number of hits do have an impact. I think that people notice it much more now with broadband connections, where everyone demands instant response. Any website is only as fast as the slowest link - that could be the website, database, ISP, router, DNS, broadband connection etc.

Simon and Shaun have customised a lot of the software used, so it is not easy to make direct comparisons. I'm not sure if it would run at all if the BBS software had been left entirely in its native state!
