Default Kit check please

I dont have all of this yet, but would like a decent list to work towards.

I'd like some recommendations on any of the kit, and have the following requests/questions:

Has anyone used Autoglym Ultra Deep shine?
A decent wax to add ontop

Wash (weekly):
Karcher Foam Lance
Chemical Guys buckets
Poorboys World Super Slick & Suds
Meguiars Last Touch QD
Sonus Der Wonder Wash Mit
Poorboys Waffle Weave Towel
Autoglym Interior shampoo
Meguirs Plastx

Surface prep (every 6 months):
P21S APC as a general surface cleanser, sprayed on before washing/foaming
Meguiars Detailing Clay Mild (Last Touch as lube)
Autoglym Super Resin Polish & German applicator pad
Autoglym EGP
3M 3434 High Performance Masking Tape

Wax (every 3 - 6 months):
Dodo purple haze
Zymol Duster

Exhaust (every wash):
P21s Polishing Soap

Wheels & tyres (every wash):
P21S wheel gel
P21S polishing soap
Poorboys Wheel Sealant
Blackfire Long Lasting Tyre Gel

Glass (every wash):
Autoglym glass cleaner

Trim (every wash):
Poor Boys natural look

Cloths:
German applicator pad

Couple of points.
6 Monthly application - maybe add AG EGP after your polish/before your wax.
Do you need to wax every wash? Why not use a spray and wax monthly orso.
AG tyreshine is a bit naff, you need an endurance one like Megs or similar.

Ollie,

What I've noticed with the whole detailing thing is that everyone
has their preference, there's not really a right or wrong answer.
What I've done is read countless Polished Bliss write up's and pick up what
would prob work for me. This is what I've just bought :

Advanced G220 Kit - (2 x 6.5" LK CCS Light Cut Pads, 1 x 6.5" LK CCS Polishing Pad, 1 x Light Cut spot pad, 1 x Polishing spot pad, masking tape and small backing plate).

6.5" Backing Plate
Menzerna RD3.02
Menzerna 85RD
Raceglaze Signature Series '42'
JEFFS Werkstatt Acrylic Jett Trigger (acting as sealant / top up wax).

Poorboys Natural Look Dressing

Meguiars Quik Clay

Triple pack of Super Thick n Plush towels
Triple pack of Deluxe Mega Towels.

I'm intending on getting the following :

Meguiars Wheel Brightner
" " Super Degreaser
" " Versa angle wheel brush
" " All Surface Interior Brush
Menzerna Intensive Polish (for hand application)
A couple more German Applicator / Megiuar Pads
A few cheapie micro fibre cloths from tesco
P21S Total Auto Wash
Poor Boys Wheels Sealant.

Thats about it for me, but I must stress this is what i rekon will
for work for my car. What you can do is just have a wee flick through a few pages back in this section; Rich from Polished Bliss posted up a fairly basic package that would be a very good starting point for any novice detailer / ocd sufferer

Craig.

Hosepipe

1 bucket

meguiars shampoo plus (love the stuff and great value lasts ages)

Cobra microfibre sponge

Autoglym aqua-dry leather(cant wait for the comments)

Poorboys professional polish

sonus sfx1/2/3 (use by hand i dont posess a polisher)

meguiars showcar glaze

Blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection(sealant)

collinite 915 wax

Meguiars tyre gel/valetpro tyre dressing

Autosol for exhaust (when it looks like it needs it)

autoglym vinyl an rubber care

meguiars nxt glass cleaner

Got some valetpro citrus pre-wash and a cheap power washer but car has to be stupidly dirty before i use em-dont like powerwashing it as a rule.

got a few other polishes/waxes/sealants etc but thats my favourite stuff.

Dont have any set regime-just do what it needs when it needs it, pics above were took after a wash and leather off, blackfire were applied a couple of wk earlier.(sealant only)

I'd recommend Blackfire Long Lasting Tyre Gel (nice finish, and doesn't spray up the side of the car ... and comes with an applicator!). I'd also recommend Megs Nxt Gen All Metal Polish for the exhaust.

Agree that waxing every 1-3 months would normally be adequate, with a compatible spray sealant used on interim washes.

Buckets look expensive ... I'd consider PolishedBliss's clear buckets at a fraction of the price!!

... and don't forget you'll need some microfibre cloths for buffing wax etc.

Thanks guys, just adapting that little lot now.

craig79, thats exactly what Ive done so far too

P1-Brad, ive got the Polishbliss buckets...from when B&Q used to sell them. I might 'upgrade' to the CG ones as they have nice lids so I'd be able to store all the gear in them to keep it all clean in between uses.

Anyone able to help out with some of the questions at the beginning of the post?

Thanks for the hints. Forgot to add the EGP onto the list, one I do already have!

Thanks for the tyreshine info, I did noticed that it makes a big difference to the tyres. Applied it the previous week and then washed the car this week and the water beads nicely over the edges of the tyres....

Off to look at Megs stuff now...

Something to replace the expensive Zymol gear.

Meguiars Detailing Clay Mild and Last Touch as the lube.

Has anyone used Autoglym Ultra Deep shine?

Not me guvnor!

Some decent microfibre drying towels

Poorboys Waffle Weave Towel - the king of waffle weaves!

Some decent lambswool wash mitts

Meguiars Lambswool Wash Mitts - great value, work well, our choice.

Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine any good

Not used it, so pass!

A decent wax to add ontop

For a reflective dripping wet look Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax; for an even wetter glossier look, one of the new Raceglaze waxes - the '55' is very nice, and as good as Zymol and Swissvax equivalents costing up to ten times as much!

Cool, thanks for the info

Ive been looking at the Dodo Joice gear at the moment and might get a couple of test batches. Anyone know if theyve released their Shampoo and double wax (1 hard 1 soft) yet?
