Default Detailing newbie questions

Apologies as I have spent most of my car cleaning life using off the shelf products, mainly Autoglym polishes/sealents/leather creams etc & recently Megs Carnuba Wax.

With the recent purchase of my first white car I have read the article by Polished Bliss regarding the use of sealents rather than e.g Carnuba Wax on a white car.

I have a couple of questions:

I used to use Autoglym High Gloss Protection which is basically a sealent. (Normally use before & during winter). Is this the kind of sealent recommended for white cars or is the Werkstatt Acrylic kit/sealent different from this. If I should use the Autoglym sealent then what product would I use before the sealent?

I have never used a clay bar before & my scooby is only a couple of years old & paintwork is in very good condition apart from the front bumper which has tar spots etc embedded in. For this & the whole car I was thinking of buying Megs Quick Clay kit- mild clay bar. Will this be ok or should I go for medium clay?

Apologies for daft questions

Choice of Clay is perfect for most situations but I would buy some extra lube (Quick Detailer) as one bottle I find is never enough (if needed some AG Tar Remover for stubborn spots). As for your colour then you can use a sealant or wax with more or less the same protection/finish. I would say its the step in between thats the important part. If you are going the sealant road then get the Jeffs Kit that PB sell or get a good cleanser like Swissvax Cleaner Fluid or Dodo Lime Prime Lite if you are going with a wax.

I normally clay every 6 months then repeat the cleansing/protection steps.

Quik Clay is ideal when you are new to claying, as it's easy to use, offers a good balance between cleaning power and safety, and is great value for money. The Autoglym sealants are fine enough, but lack the optical quality of the Jeffs polymers, which add a lot more wetness and gloss, even to solid white finishes. If funds are tight clay well and stick with the Autoglym until used up, but if funds allow then treating yourself to the Jeffs will take your finish further than ever before.

Thanx all for advice
Polished Bliss: I will Clay the car this week & try using the Autoglym paint sealent. Most probably will try & find faults in it so I can order some of the Jeffs stuff from you asap !!!
