Anyone used this product?

 

Try the toothpaste method first m8. Rub toothpaste in circular motions on the lenses for 5 -10 minutes with a cloth then rinse off with water. Did my bug sti ones recently and made a huge difference as mine were all dull. I used arm and hammer with baking soda lol. They also smell minty fresh afterwards

Wet sand then bring back with machine polish. Much cheaper than the Meguiars kit

How about I bring my Meguires DA polisher to work and give it to Eric? some light rubbing compound will bring it up a treat, god some G3 if you want that too.

you'll get it done in less than an hour.

Bit a compound polish then wax job done, I do mine every month

 

Get some jif sorry cif on it works just as good.

 

If you do polish them, look into some uv protection afterwards. It'll avoid the yellowing for a while.

I did also see this a while ago, maybe it would preserve them by way of sealing?


Also quite tempted to fit flyeyekit film to protect them, I bought some to improve the look of the standard bug wrx lamps that I have.

 

Did you do your headlights in the end? I've recently detango'd my blobeye headlights and they are very mucky and need a good clean! Just wondering if it actually worked?

 

I used autoglym paint renovator on my Bug STi lights. They were just as bad as riiidaa's lights. Look like new now!!

another member offered to tackle mine with his 3M version of the Megiuars stuff, but as yet we have not gotten round to it.

As it happens my Dad bought the kit himself on Sunday from the Megiuars stall at VOLKS WORLD, he wants to try it on some perspex windows on his boat. I had opted not to buy it from there as it was same price as i can get it in HALFORDS which didn't sit right with me lol

Might sponge ago with Dad's, well have him try it as I'd be useless.

Literally 2 mins - Autoglym paint renovator on a micro fibre cloth done by hand!!

Not the best pic but the lenses were almost brown in areas. I didn't think it would work but was astounded by the results!!

 

I usually spray some silicon on a cloth and rub it onto the headlamp, on my blob. This may help slow the plastic ageing and also looks nice and shiny afterwards. At the moment the plastic is in good condition

Finally got round to it yesterday






Pretty pleased we didn't need to use the sanding and finishing pads, just be sure to towel off the residue straight away!

mine were pretty faded when I got the car, researched all the above methods and seemed that colour sanding was the best option.
in the mean time I had some megs scratch x 2.0 laying around, decided to give it a whirl.
couple of goes with an applicator pad and came back wonders!
I have read that the fog can reappear quite quickly unless colour sanding. but have coming up to 4 weeks and so far so good.

 

I just used a mixed pack of wet n dry and some Meg Scratch X to do mine...

 

Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 sealant is what you need to stop them going ***** again

 

Spend an hour on one headlight last weekend with the Meguiars kit as well as using the toothpaste trick and it made no difference at all. Still very yellow dull headlight. Shame as it worked a treat on another car.

Any suggestions?

 

Wouldn't T-cut work?

 

I've got some T-cut, I'll give it a go. Good thinking.

 

Must be in a pretty far gone state, mine were sorted in under 10min of buffing

 

Yeah, I think they are. Had a go again earlier including trying some T-cut and again no difference. In contrast, I did my Honda lights and they came up great.

Looks like they are beyond fixing

 

Used some T-cut on mine today and worked quite well, even though I didn't put too much elbow grease in to it.

Might be a stupid thing to say but are you sure it's on the outside?

Maybe the seals have gone. Just thinking out loud.
