I was hoping someone might be able to give me a router recommendation.
Currently have a really crap Thomson modem that I'm looking to set as a bridge only and then have a new wireless router handle the firewall duties.
On the new router I need to set up port forwarding to allow access via a specific port but only from a couple specific external IP address. I've opened up ports before and forwarded them to a machine on the wireless network but I've not done that for specific external IP addresses.
Any decent wireless routers out there that will let me do that sort of port forwarding?
Many thanks
Richard

Just to clarify you want a port open from a range or certain IP's
e.g. port tcp 3389 open so people can connect from the range 134.45.234.xxx.
My cisco 881 and Juniper SSG 5 do this as did Netgear routers I've set up for other people in the past. I'm guessing most routers will do this unless they are locked down ISP provided types.

Options depend on your ISP, who is your ISP? What you want is extremely simple, what do u want to route 5081 to? PM me what you want to achieve and who is your ISP and what kit you have and Ill make it work for you.

Thanks for the kind offer but I should be ok - currently buying a replacement/decent router/modem to replace the crappy Thomson with and configuring it this weekend with a mate who's offered to help (software engineer chap).

so to make it easy for you I will give you a couple of examples
on a 3com Office Connect Router - Port forwarding is called "Virtual Server IP Address"
on a BT router Port forwarding is called "Allowed applications and Pinholes"
On a Thomson it is often called "Game and application sharing"
let me know if you need more help
