I use a fairly old Toshiba laptop in the house but it doesn't have a CD drive. But I think I can get an external drive and connect with USB?


But then I get confused by CD/DVD/OPTICAL jargon so what EXACTLY do I need. To play CD music DVDs? and perhaps to use the disc for back-ups (but this not essential).


And where is a good on-line store? Cost?

I ripped out the one had in the desktop ( which was junked ) for this purpose .

However turned out needed more connectors so didn't bother pursuing it , in fact you can pick up external drive DVD for the same price as the connectors ( ~ 12 quid)

But haven't had requirement for it , so haven't in fact bothered

 

just type in

"external usb dvd drive"

on amazon

that will do

All DVD players (for computers) will read CD's etc. OPTICAL is juts another name covering all these formats
