Should have bought another Mac
Decided to buy a budget laptop HP pavilion A8 quad core Windows 10, bla bla bla.mainly because my old MacBook just need a new battery and didn't want to pay the price for another MacBook with having more use internet phone iPad,but boy I wished had.Haven't used Windows for some years and it's still just as **** now as it was back then, slow and p1ss arseing about,And wtf is this cortana and wanting to know all.New laptop and one day using Windows had enough already,I'm even writing this on my iPhone, because haven't got alday waiting for Windows to catch up.I'm now so tempted by the lovely 11" MacBook Air.

My MacBook is six years old and was undecided if to replace the battery or buy a new one,my photos etc are saved to a memory stick so that no problem, plus have iPhone six and iPad pro,so just decided buy a budget Windows laptop £400.00 pffffff Only bought Saturday and watched a movie and did some internet browsing and that was enough for me using Windows os,slow, still full of pop up ads, updates.windows 10 seems to want track all your internet movements, and cotarna can bugger off also.plus I'm always travling around so the lovely 11 inch MacBook Air suits me and got good battery life, quick start up and shutdown in standby mode, and get back to a proper os.

Not really I could have a stealth black laptop as long as it did what it says on the tin that's good enough and OSX does it without a fuss..it's not exactly a **** spec laptop for surfing nothing gaming.AMD 7410 quad core yes I know it's not Intel before anyone says but found AMD just as adequate past .8gb 2tb

Hmm that may explain why my i7 spectre doesn't suffer in the way you describe with win 10 on your A8 Pav, although it isn't as snappy as it was on 8.1 that said I do have about 30tabs open in Firefox LOL.
Could be a slow HD too, some large laptop drives do have atrocious access speeds.
I do run 10 on a Atom net top too, but that's as slow as f**k on any OS (keep meaning to stick Linux on it).

This little 11 inch macbook air rocks, and worth loosing an inch for something so elegant and just works out the box.The track pad is smooth, the feel of it,even smells good.Just all effortless,my fingers feel like a feather on the keyboard,my headache is even going.
Everything is in its place and works, the build, the os just compliment each other.I mean this macbook is 1.6ghz 4gb i5 and its fecking brilliant.Look i got nothing against windows other than its ****.
Lights on lights off, good Sound its just nice for something to work well out the box,and not need external things for it to work good..But each to their own.For me it was worth the £750.00

I'd say its more down to the budget machine your using, i run windows 10 on my dell i7 laptop and its super quick at all times. Maybe change your laptop for a better one and it should sort the problem out.

Windows gets worse all the time for me windows 10 is horrid and whats with the updates all the time takes forever, my mac has had one update in the year ive had it and even then it took less than 5 min to instal and reboot, i actually duel booted my macbook and have wondows on it but ive never bothered using it lol

Why would anyone sell a device that doesn't work well. Maybe you don't know what you're missing.

I hear what you saying. But you and Ali are having to go i7 just for windows to work smooth, its not saying alot about windows is it,and laptops running i7 off the shelf your probably looking at starting price £600/£700 upwards anyhow. When I had a dell xps running Windows it worked ok,but I'd paid £800.00 for it,but still didn't find it as good as OS X when I made the change. So for that money I'd rather have peace of mind and go Mac OS X and know it will work without hassle. Many Windows machines that people buy in the budget area running i3 or i5 £200/£400 dual core etc.I only did basic web browsing and couple downloads using the AMD A8 and just found Windows no better since I last used several years ago.infact I think Windows was better back then, than what it is now.people may get better performance tinkering around with graphics cards/CPU's,don't want bother like this anymore. 👍

What are you all on about? The best thing you can do to improve your Mac and speed it up is install Windows 10.

Its a bit of cop out though when a Windows user is basically stating, want Windows to run smoother, then buy a more expensive laptop with an i7 processor.Should work out the box regardless of cost £400 or £800,unless you're really using it for demanding tasks. That's the good thing about Mac OS,it just works without a fuss out the box.Have 100% confidence with OS X,Windows still appears to be a hit or miss.Don't want spend hours online looking for which brand laptop works best with Windows, should work good with any brand.i'm a no frills type of guy.I prefer a normal coffee to your latte,I prefer a pc and os that just works .

I've just replaced my laptop at work. Its a Dell XPS 15 with a 2.6H+GHz i7 core and 8GB RAM running Windows 10 Pro.
Surprised to say that apart from one particular issue its brilliant. Superfast start up, well integrated os. All good. Annoying as f*ck when it goes into sleep/standby mode and you can't wake it up with a simple keystroke or mouse/trackpad movement.
Having said all of that, its a work machine. For personal use I'd have a MacBook without hesitation.
Oh, yeah - the one issue? Needs to be hardwired to our LAN. Wireless connection to a 6GHz wireless network is pish. Its not faulty - just doesn't seem to like it. Not a big issue, but I'd expect more.
