I have 2 PC's linked with a 25 metre cable. I PC Athlon slot A 700 with a 10/100 Accton EN1207D Series PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter and the other AMD 1.2 gig Athlon sock A with a 10/100 Netgear FA310TX Fast Ethernet Adapter(NGRPCI) card which work fine with the 10 mb Accton Etherhub 5st but when I change the hub to a netgear 10/100 FE104 hub or 3com office connect 8 port switch then it doesn't work. They seem to work ok with short cables but as soon as i put the 25 m cable in it won't work. I've also got 3 25 m cables and none of then work!!!.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Just a thought... but are the network cards set to auto duplex ?

If so set them both to be the same ie 100 mbs full duplex and see if this solves your problem.

try running 10mb instead of 100mb... and check whats said above..

Is the 25m cable a x-over cable?

Scott, both cards set to auto, tried setting them both at 100 1/2 duplex and that didn't work.
David, no the cable isn't a x over

can you confirm that pin 1 goes to pin 1 and so on??

Seems very odd.

Try setting both cards to 10 mbs half duplex as David recommended. This is the speed that the cards would of been working at going through the hub.

Also check that you are not using an uplink port on the switch(es)
