This email was sent to you because your email was entered
in on a website requesting to be a registered subscriber.
So you signed up for it?

Seriously though, since they give an address, why not forward the email to the Nevada state police? I'm sure they'd be interested.

Did you follow any of the links to see if there really was dodgy content there?

I wouldn't dare look. I don't want to get into trouble or anything! What if it really is bad?

I didn't subscribe - they use that I think to get away with it.

Made me feel sick! I have a 3 1/2 year old myself!

I know you didn't subscribe - that was a (albeit poor) joke.

If you go to www.dialerking.com, as mentioned in the message, a huge anti-**** disclaimer comes up. Seems they've been stitched too...

So this mail is one of two things:

1. Disgruntled employee (perhaps) trying to shaft his old company (DialerKing).

2. Somebody with a rather sick sense of humour.

Either way, I'd do what you should do with all such spam - delete it and ignore it.

The actual links go to: http://www.sexmansion.com

If you click on it, it tries to run a programme. Luckily I have fairly high security!

It's probably a trojan then, or something.

TBH, being a web-designer, I'd have thought you'd have been more net-savvy and just binned the mail without reading it.

I have already got Spam Punisher! I have reported to ISP, but I was actually wondering if I could report it to the police or anything. It's OK, coz now I have the address to report it to!

I've moved off patrol, and I'm now working for West Yorks Telecom and Computer Crime Unit, and I'm getting a lot of reports about this one.

Its basically, as mentioned above, an attempt at a DOS attack against the main click-through gateways on the internet.

Obviously there's not a lot that can be done from a UK law point of view as most of these originate outside our jurisdiction.

Tracing the source of the email is an option, but these email addresses also usually point to bogus accounts and are out of the UK in their source anyway.

What we do, as a department, is refer people to the Internet Watch Foundation, which is an organisation to combat this type of problem, and these guys carry a lot of weight in the European (and worldwide) internet community.

Any more problems, please feel free to email me..... sh329@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

I have reported it to the IWF now. Nothing will get done, but as most people have said on the other thread, I should grow up and not take this too seriously.

I'm sorry for getting angry at it, but as I said, I have a daughter!!

Hey, I don't have a daughter (or a son) but I still get seriously pissed off when I hear about paedophilia - even if it's spoof/hoax stuff like this was. It's a natural reaction.

But, to stay sane, you have to laugh (hence my post in the other thread ).

clarebabes,

i also have a daughter she's 11 and harry potter etc mad.
a while ago i did a search on kazaa for car clips, drag races, crashes, top gear clips , that sort of thing.

one of the search results was " asian **** gets it in car" - o.k. - there was no search filter on BUT as the yellow info box on the said clip popped up, one of the keywords, ( the rest were of a sexual nature)was harry potter.

i looked at my shared stuff on kazaa out of interest and to add keywords, descriptions etc you have to edit the properties of that particular shared file so it was no mistake that the harry potter keyword had been inserted by whoever was sharing or created the file.

It makes you wonder what sort of people would deliberatley point this toward kids.

mj

Are you sure the girl in the movie wasn't called 'Harry', and that 'potter' wasn't a euphamism?

Erm, I've never met any oriental **** stars, so have no idea whether they might or might not be called 'harry'.

As for euphamisms, well - I won't elaborate as I fear I'm digging myself into a hole for the second time (on the same thread) today. But use your imagination.

Whatever you do don't reply. It can not be considered spam under some US law due to them giving an anti spam disclaimer and their contact details. If you do respond then then no the alias? is active and will continue to spam (pass it on to their associates) If you don't respond and bin it like everyone else, you may never receive it again...

I would report it to the police in that state. Ring International Directory Enquiries and get the number for that Police Dept, and then give them the address in the e-mail.

It's worth a try to get rid of these sick *******s

LOL. Ian, try reading the whole thread first. Do you really think that a bunch of paedos would put their correct address/phone number on an email like that? Get real.

It's a hoax, and as proven by the disclaimer at www.dialerking.com, it's just a DoS attach on that site, probably.

Bin the mail, and ignore it, just like all the other sick/stupid/rude/offensive spam mails that come through.

Oh, and check the 'Avoiding Spam' thread in the 'Non-Scooby' forum for tips about how to filter this rubbish without even having to read it.
