Thought i'd write my fellow game heads a mini review of the above.

Grapgically stunning, great sound, LOADS of vehicles to fly/drive/sail. But on the single player version the bot 'AI' seems non existent, your side stand around or take a vehicle and disappear in the opposite direction (made more annoying by the fact the bots spawn before you and steal all the vhicles at the start of a level) you can chase after the vehicles and kick them out by pressing 'e' but its annoying having to sprint after the bots.

Also even if you tell them to follow you and take a flag seems to have no response and they just stand or run around with no intelligence displayed at all.

More annoyingly, if you encounter a little battle going on between your bots and theres, you dive in and ALL the enemy bots start shooting you ignoring all the other troops they were just fighting - HELLO!

Its still a good game, but the single player is very frustrating due to the above, but the real action is online where its stunning, up to 64 v 64 on the MASSIVE maps.

Have you tried upping the amount of CPU the game gives to the AI?

BF1942 is all about multiplayer IMHO. If you want a single player, go for MOHAA

yeah i upped the cpu time to max and changed the slide bar to make them more 'intelligent'

unfortunately the extra intelligence just means they snipe you from about 5 miles away instead of 3 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm doesnt actually change any of my other gripes.

it is definately a MUCH better online game than single player.

lol nice pic!

i watched a russian tank stop in front of a german, being so close it couldnt gun him so just stood there, the german im guessing had no grenades and he just stood there.
Bit of a pause while i waited to see what would happen, then i got within range on foot and the german killed me lol.

cheques not bounced yet, should it?

LOL - looks like the usual AI nonsense - games are all style and no substance i.e. gameplay.

Only game so far with half decent AI was Half Life & how old is that now.

I think too many of todays games are using the dumb-*** quake engine.

Programmers need to get their finger out of their backsides and onto their keyboards again.

1942 looks cute, if MP is good I may bay it.

BTW MOHAA single and multiplay sucked

BF1942 is superb at MP.

Saw a brilliant tactic last night with the B17. About 8 of one team climbs on the wings and the B17 takes off. The B17 flies level and carpet bombs the base below. Then the team jump off and parachute down to take the base. Just make sure you've got a good pilot though.

LOL - got an image of a fully loaded B17 hitting the ground at a high rate of knots... arms and legs everywhere. (I'm gonna go buy it now)

yeah you can get quite a few people on tanks and apc as well and do likewise.

isnt there 11 slots to sit in a b17 as well? so people on the wings and inside could be quite a large force moving, just pray the flak doesnt get them lol.

wonder if you can parachute off from the wings....

have seen a couple of net servers running 64v64 but they werent full funnily enough.

i seem to remember playing some quake 2 maps with 64 players and they werent to bad so long as the server was only a short hop away. But i imagine the net code for this is a bit more complex.

How about getting on a full 128 player server and getting everybody to stand on the plane wings? World record for wing walking!!
