USB Link cable - will it network?

Got a USB link cable a few months ago to copy files to and from a laptop using PcLinq software which works ok, can i set up a network with this cable or do i need a different type of cable.

If you are only connecting 2 hosts then the USB link will be fine, not so fast as 100baseT but perfectly reasonable (i would imagine).

If you want to make a complete network, then look at getting some Cat5 cabling and a switched hub (might want to try http://www.scan.co.uk/ or http://www.dabs.com/ or your local PC World).

I have never tried the USB thing, though I had recently though about getting a laptop, so may be in a similar position - my idea was to use Firewire though, for higher x-fer rate
