Will this work? (Wireless networking and ADSL question)
#1
Basically i have three computers in my house. One in the study, one in my bedroom and a laptop that gets moved around alot. I dont have a phone line in my bedroom and would take alot of work to put one on (Wooden floor glued down and I'm not having the cable stuck to the wall). I want to get Broadband for my PC in my study and I wondered if I can use wireless networking to recieve it on my PC in my bedroom.
I think I'll need the following:
1) adsl modem
2) router
3) wireless LAN access point
4) A LAN PCI adapter for both pcs. and maybe one for the Laptop but I dont really need it
is there anything else?
Is there any good web sites to look at?
Would the signal interfere with anything in my house? TV, Mobile phone, etc,
Would I recieve a good Download rate, my bedroom is more or less the room above my study.
I'd appreciate any help.

i think you covered just about everything you need. a combo all-in-one ADSL modem and router with 4-port would be the easiest for internet sharing. just plug in your wireless AP into the port and you got wireless.

So would this work?
How much am I looking at for everything? Has any one done this? If I'm only using one modem and a router, does that mean I only need one internet account as I'll be using the same IP address.

IMO, I would wait for awhile. At the end of this month DLink, Linksys, Netgear and Draytek will be launching wireless ADSL routers.
Linksys will be a wireless ready router - £120+VAT approx
Netgear will be a wireless router - £180+VAT approx
DLink will be a wireless router - £180+VAT approx
Draytek will be a wireless router - £205+VAT (confirmed )
Just a quick note - The Draytek standard 2600 router has a serious bug with online games - the UDP bug stops them from working I believe this bug will be on the 2600We too.

Suba. I'm not sure that is the same beast as the Draytek.
Wireless access point ADSL modem with built in firewall.
The blurb on the Actiontec box is abit confusing, is that what it does too, or does it expect the modem to be plugged into it for redistribution?
