Upgrade Help... RAM and Hard Drive

Can anyone help...
Firstly, going to add some RAM to a mate's PC. Done it before with mine so comfortable doing it, but he has a Pentium P2, not sure if it's a 233 or a 266. I'm pretty sure I need SD RAM, but should I get PC100 or PC133 and what is the difference.
Secondly, the hard drive on my Evesham has failed AGAIN. So as I was going to upgrade the hard disc as I'm putting lots of video on their these days, I was going to upgrade to an 80gb drive... I was looking at this one:
IBM Deskstar 120GXP 80GB UIDE100 7200rpm - OEM
from Ebuyer. Will it be compatible with an AMD Athlon 1.2. Again I'm pretty sure it will be but just want the confirmation before I shell out £80.
Cheers
Dave

Both questions come down to the motherboard type mate.
Judging by age of the CPU, I'd say PC100 was the most likely candidate for RAM. If you can supply the make and model of the motherboard we may be able to confirm.
Great choice of Hard Drive IMO
Again, so long as your motherboard supports ATA100 you'll have no problems. Motherboard make and model would again confirm, although I'd say it'd be okay, you have a reasonably recent CPU and therefore motherbard.
Hope that helps

Mine's a CHAINTEC 7KJD-C motherboard...
so do you think I'm compatible.
I'm actually on the phone to Evesham at the mo to see. I can't believe it, this is my second hard disk failure in 13 months and I had a motherboard blow as well.

regarding RAM, if you buy some PC133 it will work in a PC100 motherboard anyway, so that is the safest bet.
Of course, if he has a motherboard manual it will say in there.

you've got to be a bit careful with the 133 RAM on 100MHz boards, there can be a timing issue if you have large memory modules (ie 256MB) on a single memory board. I've had reports of 133 128MB being fine on 100Mhz boards, but problems have been seen with 256MB or higher.
You'll probably get away with it providing you only have one type of memory speed, but mixing and matching speeds can be problematic when stretching the system.
