Question

Another boring computer question I'm afraid

I want to upgrade the graphics card on my PC, and I've read that this company makes the best quality graphics. But are they better than the stuuf you can get from nVidea?

3DLabs/Creative do make some very good cards. I reckon you get what you pay for with graphics cards though.

I can't really recommend any cuz i'm not sure what the current best spec cards are but as far as 3DLabs goes, i've had them before and i'm using one now and i've never found any fault with them.

Bear in mind though... if you're not all that into playing games then i wouldn't bother stretching to a high spec card. Not really worth the extra cash unless you're going to use it.

Question

Between 5 and 10 years ago 3DLABS were very big players in the PC graphics card market. I have recently heard of them making some good WORKSTATION cards again. What graphics card you buy very much depends on what you're gonna use it for.

With the buy out by creative labs, they've injected a ton of money into them and they've come up with the goods with their last product which nails the competition. BUT as everyone has pointed out, their cards aren't aimed at games players.

More low-end 3D workstations for 3D Studio and Maya.
