Can you stop and start NT services from another machine, providing you have the right priveleges? If so, how do you do this?

I'm sure I've seen this done before but can't remember how.

Thumbs up

You can also use psservice from here if you want to do stuff from a command prompt.

Stefan

Edited to point you straight to the utils page.

Thanks again both

Whenever I need a quick answer on Windows or SQL Server, I ask on here first. The Windows/SQL Server forums I'm on are either a lot slower to reply - or don't reply at all!

Cheers.

You must be busy if you're using shortcuts like F5 to refresh a page, I have the time to move my mouse to the top of my browser and click

Yes, I'm very bored...

Andrew,

Bet you use your hand to move the mouse up to the refresh button don't you ? Try using your nose, takes much longer, as you need to keep looking up. Works wonders for time wasting here.

An alternative is to use your toes.

Cheers

Can you write me a service to check backup logs and then combine them into a report showing average run time, data backed up, calculate throughput etc and then email it on...

Cheers

Kev - you could also use net stop "servicename" and put it in a script.
