I'd go for the Sony DSC-P51 in this price bracket, flippin brilliant.
About £190 or less if you shop around.
16mb memory card as well
Oh and it does have rechrgeable batteries, do a search for Steve's digicams on Google for reviews of loads of cameras..
Hope you find what you're looking for

The missus wants one for Christmas, it will just be used for snaps, not proper photos, re-chargeable batteries/charger would be good, so what should I get up to £100-200.
Needs to be ordered asap. Recommendations please?

I'm not sure if they are still doing the deal but both Curries and PCWorld were both offering the Kodak DX4900 for £199 last week (£100 off).
It's very cheap for a 4Meg camera, very easy to use for point and shoot and gives very good results. Connects to PC with supplied USB cable and supplied Kodak software (or you can buy a docking station for even easier transfer but you don't really need it, the cable works well).
Comes with 16Meg flash memory and a lithium non-rechargeable battery.
Takes AA baterries so just add some high capacity NiHH rechargeables for about £10 - £15 and your away (probably need to get another bigger flash card but thats the same for any camera you buy)

Thanks guys - Fuji 204 looks like the one as it has a 3x zoom over the Sony's 2x and the memory is cheaper.
Looks like I missed the boat on the Kodak 4900, its back up to £250 at PcWorld and £300 at Currys.
Will pop into Jessops at lunchtime.
So does no-one do a camera with onboard rechargables like a mobile phone?

"The PowerShot A40 defies the odds. How can a camera at this price include a huge amount of high-end features yet beat its budget rivals for quality hands down? We don't know the answer, but our advice is not to worry and to just go and buy it, because this camera is an absolute bargain. "

Just re-read it- the Sony does the job, plus it appears to be 3x zoom according to dabs.... It's one of those 2 then. At least I'm not getting her a pan - LOL

I wouldn't go to Jessops personally, I find that www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk are cheaper (dramatically).
Go to Jessops to 'test drive' the camera, and buy it for Cameras Direct
