Question

I want to to enhance my gaming experience and DVD viewing (I've already got the widescreen TV), so I've decided to buy a surround sound system (probably one with a built in DVD player as I'm getting annoyed with the PS2 playback with certain DVD's).

Will the PS2 & gamecube play through such machines ? What do I need to look for when purchasing?

I'm thinking about one of the sony DVD home cinema kits either the DAVS400 or DAVS550, anyone got any experience of these ?

We went for a separate surround amp and bought 3 surround speakers to complement my existing hifi speakers. All were heavily reduced in Richer Sounds and I picked up the lot for 250 quid rather than 600 All you need to connect the PS2 to the amp is a fibre optic (TOSLink) interconnect cable and these cost from about 15 quid upwards - check out online reviews or WhatHiFi, etc mags for recommendations. We also got a separate DVD player (Toshiba 220SE from www.techtronics.com that's region free and has a remote control and doesn't suffer from lip-sync problems.
