Iv bought a second hand Xbox from my sisters friend thats been chipped (chipped 6 months ago when bought) but iv been having problems with it for the two days iv have it. Every time i put a game in. original and backup it keeps displaying a message that the disk is not recognized.
Need to eject disk about 5-8 times b4 disk can read. Bloke said this is normal bcuz its chipped. Is this TRUE?

(bought it for £100. he told me its coming with loads of games, turns out he gives me 3 games one original and two backups games
and it turns out that the Xbox is an import from China plus i need to use a transformer to convert 240v to 100v What a ****)

Thats certainly not normal. Sounds to me like the DVD drive is on its way out. Spares can be sourced, but not very easily. You can replace it with a normal PC DVD-rom drive at the expense of not being able to use original X-Box discs, backups only. Have a look on the cdrom-guide forums for spares.

Had this on an Xbox that had been modified before. It is common with some certain types of CD media. Some work some don't. Trial and error. Mine works fine with TDK but not Sony for strange reason. The CD/DVD drives in the Xbox aren't all the same either, so you will have to find out for yourselve.

Replace the Hard drive with a larger one and copy your backups locally, then you won't have to worry

Best of luck!
