I've currently running AMD XP 2200+, 333 M/B with 512MB PC2700 DDR memory, 160Gig 7200 HDD, Geforce 4 ti 128mb DDR, 21inch iiayma monitor.

Have a few hundred quid to spare, which I could use to upgrade if necessary, any suggestions?? I really want it to be up to Doom3 when it arrives.

Your system is more than upto doom 3 spec, in fact 4600 will likely do around about 90 fps for doom 3 depending on your resolution.

Geforce Fx will do about 140fps, HOWEVER, to be completely bloody fair, most ppl cannot tell the difference between 60 and 80fps. Above 50fps its difficult to tell, BUT if your one of the sub 100 ping time ppl and really into it then yes wait till next month for a Geforce Fx for like 400 quid - however, imho its a waste of your cash - go buy a Ps2 and need for speed etc or an xbox and gauntlet / splinter cell / halo

I have a PS2 - love Vice City. I just prefer the keyboard/mouse setup of 3d shoot em ups.

I don't think the PS2 controls are up to the keyboard move / mouse aim and fire setup.

Heavely into Medal of Honour at the mo. Absolutely top game IMO.

What does the new Spearhead add get me? Anyone recommend?

Ok, your system is a load of crap - scrap it all.
In fact, forget that, send it to me and I'll make sure it gets scrapped properly, include a £50 cheque if you want, after all I am doing you a big favour!

Now, go down to pc world - they'll help you spec up a new system

To answer your question - your system looks **** hot as it is - I don't reckon it needs to be upgraded to be honest.

Your system seems up to scratch - perhaps invest the money in a spanking new Bigscreen TFT job. I know you've got a decent monitor at the moment (I've got the 22" Iiyama CRT and they're lovely) but they don't have take up a lot of desk space!

The screen is generally the only thing that stays decent over a couple of years anyhow. I've had my monitor for about 3 years and it's still pretty much the best on the market (though half the price now of course).
