Use NTFS file permissions if not using FAT

No you can't protect a notepad file, you can however (like mega_stream said) protect the file by password protecting a folder with NTFS (W2K and XP)

What OS are you using?

Put it in a password protected zip file. Crap encryption but would stump most people.

darlodge, i disagree that you can password protect a folder. You cant with standard NTFS, you can permission it and lock it down that way and then make it hidden. can you explain what you mean. ta

Encript the file, its just as simple and gives you added security.

I would suggest downloading a program called Mooseoft Encrypter - why this program? Because it's freeware, it's simple to use, it works very well, and it can encrypt/decrypt multiple files at once. It comes with a really good help file, so if you have any problems with it just look there.
