Gran Turismo - Buy cars, buy bits to upgrade them, win races, get money, buy better cars, win licences.
Sega GT 2002 - Buy cars, buy bits to upgrade them, win races, get money, buy better cars, win licences.
Ok, you're got me!
Seriously, I find it not a bad game, not as good to drive as PGR, but ok. I found the handling and driving slow when going straight from PGR to Sega GT ,but then I was driving a 150MPH Ferrari in PGR and a 80MPH Fiat Punto in Sega GT
Best bet is, rent/borrow it first.

I like it
(doesn't look like everyone agrees though )
All the cars drive differently (which I like) but detune themselves (which I really don't like) There aren't very many tracks, and you are restricted by what you can race against, so unlike GT you can't create a 500bhp monster and go out terrorising hot hatches to win easy money.
It's at this point I should point out I didn't rate MSR very highly at all, and as I understand it PGR is just an update of that so I've never played it.

Indeed, I built a scooby to beat the boss car which was a Datsun Z80 or something bizare, had such a high top speed that to beat it I built me a scooby with 1000hp and high gear ratios, it zoomed off and nearly won the race, but just as I ran out of energy I came flying past him at like 200+!

Tokyo Extreme Racer!
That game was the pits! I bought it for £5 preowned and took it back the same day for a refund!

Sega GT is fab, its one of two games I own on XBOX.
Like Gran Turismo in many ways, like upgrading cars etc.
Best car is the Caterham Super 7 with all the sporty bits/lightened etc. It flies! (even faster than the exige I found...)
Buy it for a definate laugh, although its not *that* long lived but has massive replayability factor.
My $0.02

I really liked SEGA GT 2002. First game in which you can use NOS!! I also liked the old cars in it like the Skylines, Mustangs etc. It's fun for a week but wears off pretty soon. Handling gets much better once you drive better/faster cars!

Gran Turismo - Jump in any car, drives true to the real car and based on settings, come to a corner, beautiful oversteer in drift mode, slight understeer in normal mode but again due to the myriad of settings create your ideal handling situation.
Sega GT - Jump in any car, drives ok on the straight true to the real car, come to a corner, understeer understeer understeer, alter the stiffness and understeer, understeer, understeer, plug in a steering a wheel and... well you get the idea, its so bad Im chuckling to myself even writing this!
