I want to make my own CD's from the PC. Do I need a CD-R drive or a CD-RW drive and what is the difference.
Sorry but I'm old.

Either, the CD-R will burn burn-once only CDs.

a CD-RW will burn both burn-once CDs and rewritable CDs so you could erase all the data on a rewritable and burn it again.

Not much difference in price these days, if it is even possible to buy plain CD writers anymore. You can pick a CD-RW up for about 40-50 quid.
