Try Kazaa. I downloaded a full copy of Ulead DVD Moviefactory. It allows you to create dvd's, vcd's and so on... You can also edit, add titles and convert files.

Hmm, not sure on any free ones, but are you sure that no cd's with a player on came with any of your purchases? e.g MB, video card, dvd drive?

You could try a eval copy of WinDVD and breathe some magic on it
