GT4 POWERS UP WITH CRAZY CONTENT!
Massive online tailbacks predicted as insider jaws hit floor
15:52 As E3 approaches, what are purporting to be provisional details of one of the biggest games on the planet have emerged. Gran Turismo 4 is likely, barring the announcement of something catastrophically huge, to be Sony's biggest title of the show by a mile, and from initial reports it's set to shake the very foundations of gaming.
The major addition to the series that is already widely known is full online play, via the PS2 Network Adaptor. According to the latest reports, GT4 will feature online play for up to eight players simultaneously, support for voice communication via headset, and online vehicle trading to add an extra frisson of excitement.
But for the trading aspect to count, there needs to be a wide range of sexy motors to lust after. GT3 wasn't exactly deficient in this area, but GT4 will reportedly boast a staggering 2,000 vehicles and an equally mind-bending 100 tracks. \Eek. And considering the attention to detail Polyphony Digital likes to lavish on each motor, this could be the ultimate wet dream for car lovers.
The official public unveiling is only weeks away, but the select few privileged enough to have laid eyes on the game so far have been amazed. One Sony insider, operating under strict conditions of anonymity, told us: "It looks astonishing - and what they're doing with the online side will genuinely blow people away."
But such gaming justice comes at a heavy price. "It's still a long way from completion, though - it's looking like Autumn 2004 at present." Bah!
If we don't burst with excitement first, expect the full low-down direct from the showfloor in a few weeks.
