Right - sick of the SPV now, it's going back. I've been looking into these Three phones and have played about with one in the shop. Looking good. Does anyone have any experience with them?
I want it to do the following:
Video calling
Email
Modem (so my laptop can connect to net)
Any advice or good links to 3G phone forums would be great.
Thanks![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Take it you have been to http://www.three.co.uk/index.omp As far as I know this is only the company with 3G at the mo for UK mainland ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Coverage only 3%
Hopefully they will launch a 3G **** chat number, that would get people converting![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Cem,
There were a few things in the end that made me look at 3 and decide to pay the money in the end:-
* Good Value Tarrifs
* Reliable Coverage when not in 3G area by using o2 (Previous mobile was on T-Mobile)
* Extra Services - not so much the video calling at the moment but the location services I think will be very handy
The Downsides:-
* Poor Battery life on the hansdet - not major really as they give you 2 batterys
* New technology - So I am expecting a few teething problems
Personally I think that at the money that 3 are charging at the moment for the handset even on 3-to-go when you look at the other handsets that you can get it is a really good deal. I have personally opted to go for the 3-to-go initially, that way I am not tied down in any contracts, but I will probably move onto the £60 a month tarrif after the teething problems have been ironed out.

If history is anything to go by, then 3 are going to be THE company to go with for 3G in the UK.
The people behind 3 are Hutchinson Telecom, who anyone my age will probably remember as being the people originally behind Orange. Under Hutchinson, Orange was arguably the best managed mobile company / network in the UK, if not Europe, and Hutchinson sold the company for a tidy profit![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I have a rabbit phone still somewhere!
At the time it was cool, about a quarter of the size of "normal" mobile phones.
Of course, you could only call out and if you stood directly under a box on a wall whilst making strange movements with your hands......
Steve.

Word in the mobile industry is that all the current 3G phones are not working to their full potential.
They are all in experimental stages at the moment & would recommend to buy one in circa 6 months time.

Bought the two phones from the Three shop after 2 different independants gave me poor, ill informed information.
Got home that night, rang up customer services repeatedly for 3 hours - number was constantly engaged. Rang up the land line number given in the booklet only to find myself connected to a holiday camp
obviously got a typo in the manual.
Eventually got thru to be told by an illiterate who spoke the worst english ever that the phones need 72 hours for activation. Was never told this at the shop.
Strike 1
Couple days later, I can make voice calls on my phone, but no services for 3G. Hmmm... Anyway, I play about with the phone and give them some time to sort out the problem - new phone, teething etc..Wasn't until the phone crashed and I had to reboot the phone I realised I DID have my services, but didn't know I had to reboot.
Ayway, now I have my services, the video player and the camera viewer packup. Great.
Strike 2
Ring up customer services over the course of an entire day (yes, choice between an engaged tone and a holiday camp). Eventually get through to some idiot who makes me go through the whole thing, then to establish he needs to get tech support to ring me within a couple of hours. 24 hours later, still no call.
Stike 3, yer out!
Meanwhile, my wife's phone is still unactivated.
Not impressed, not happy.

Mine arrived this morning, already activated, working like a charm.
I am well impressed with it.
When calling the Call centre (between ording my phone and the delivery) I found that I got transfered to teh indian call centre, where at one ponit it took me almost 10 minutes to give my details across! I was not impressed then, although once I got transfered to the UK call centre I found the staff to be very good.

Just read your reply.
Some people get routed through to the India helpdesk who are hopeless, I've been informed.
The phones don't take 72hrs to start, the are activated quickly, mine was done in about 30 mins. The battery life is poor but then it seems to improve every time I recharge it (lasts a little longer.) I do get a lot of 3G areas all except in my house - but then the roof is lined or something - as it blocks the majority of signals.
I've had no problems with the phone so far, maybe you were just unluncky...
