Thumbs up

Looking at getting a new PDA with SAT NAV package.
Looking down the lines of Compaq Ipaq using Tom Tom II software. Any reccomendations on what Ipaq to go for H3950 seems a good spec (don't think i need bluetooth )
Have Road Angel GPS blackspot detector fitted in car at the moment can I link this up in any way to use its GPS?
If so what lead required?
Cheers,
Mark.

Tom Tom Nav II ...

Recommended ! not a lot of money ..

You can also integrate a POI warner to let you know when approaching speed cameras. Database is downloadable (free) also the POI is free as well .....

Gps units depend upon wether you want to have the GPS only avail in the car .. In which case I would go for the Tom Tom II pack that includes a serial port connected GPS ..
Check out Pocket Gps
This is a goldmine of information and reviews ...also a very useful forum .

Agree with PTMW but lose the trafcam but buy or eval gps-assist and use the pocketgps speed camera database instead.

Thats the setup I use.

If you don't need bluetooth then the ipaq 1910 is a tiny PDA, which I was very impressed with when I saw one recently. Otherwise the 3950 is a nice PDA, with a great screen.

The 1910 isn't very upgradable as far as I know, can't add flash card jacket to it, etc. Bidding on a couple of 3970's on ebay at the mo! So hopefully will get a good bargain!!
Tom Tom II selling on ebay for approx £200 with lead.
Should turn out to be a cool cheap Sat Nav.

BTT for this as, although the info has been informative, the question is still the same.

If you're only using it for Sat Nav, then any IPaq above a 36xx series is more than sufficent. I bought a 3760 for £180 and it runs the software perfectly. There's no point on spending hundreds more if you're just going to keep it the car like I do.

As for software, i've recently upgraded to TomTom v2, far superior to any other PocketPC based GPS package. Now includes postcodes, house numbers, places of interests (had every single petrol station I passed between Liverpool and Manchester) as well as the cool new 3d mode.

As far as the Road Angel GPS being compatible, I couldn't say - try posting on http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/ - there is a welath of information there. If the road angel isn't suitable, I only paid £69 for my GPS mouse which has worked flawlessly for 4 months+ and consistently locks on to 9+ Satellites.
