i have been away from the computer

i have a 1gb computer running windows me
i have another computer running windows 98
i have a cable between them both
the windows 98 machine can see the windows me
but the windows me machine doesnt see the windows 98 machine
i want to use the windows 98 as a internet access for
the g/f's daughter ...(sling her up in her room
so i can have some serious sex on the lounge floor)
the windows me machine is the one linked to the internet
and i am on ntl broadband..
i hope that is enough information
sorry if it aint but i am a user not an abuser

If the ME machine is on the net and you have a crossover cable betwean the 2, all you should need to do is enable Internet Connection Sharing on the ME machine and make sure the 98 machine is set to pick up an IP address via DHCP. Problem is I never liked ME and I can't remember how to enable ICS. I hope someone else on here can. I will have a search.

OK, took a little while. I hope you have the ME CD. Goto "start" Settings" "Control Panel" "Add Remove Programs" A box will pop up, select "windows setup" Wait a while. Scroll down to "internet tools" highlight it and click details. You will see "Internet Connection Sharing" put a tick in the box and click OK several times. It will ask for the ME CD and then run through a setup wizard (you will need a blank Floppy disk) It will ask which network adapter you use for the Internet, select the USB Modem then it asks which network adapter connects the computers, select your network card. It will ask for a floppy disk at this point. After that click finish and reboot. Once it has rebooted run Winipcfg and see if you get 192.168.0.1, if so put the floppy in the 98 machine and run the .EXE .Try this and let me know what happens I have been doing it on a 98 machine but ICS is very similar on 98 and ME.

That is the Details of the USB modem not the network card. There is a dropdown box that lets you change to the network card in winipcfg. What IP does the network card have ?
