I'm trying to build my first 'proper' PC (I've previously only had notebooks). The fact that I've not been paid anything since early January means that I'm trying to do it for as little as possible.

I'm finding that developing with VS.Net is griding a bit on my laptop, so I'm going to build a development PC. I need a fair bit of memory, and a quickish CPU. Don't care about GFX - it's not going to be a games machine.

I know you lot are constantly building/upgrading PCs, and have numerous cast-offs. So, does anyone have any bits which they don't want any more, which they'd be willing to palm off on me?

Cases, PSUs, mobos, CPUs, GFX cards, RAM, HDDs, floppies - anything would be useful.

Exclamation

Got a brand new DELL 690GT+ that I need to shift as an unwanted birthday present from my now ex-wife. I don't do computers. I don't mind the cost but I don't care. Sort me out with a drink and it's yours.

The only catch is I live in a small town near Edinburgh (Innerleithen) though so you'll have to come collect as I don't want to send it.

Cool

Cool. Whereabouts in Innerleithen? I'm going out on my MTB in Glentress this afternoon, so I could pop by and pick it up.

You doubt this offer?

"Hmmm. Fairly sure it's a wind-up..."
