I've searched the forums and can't reach any conclusions ![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Requirements:
3m pixels min
decent optical zoom
ideally SmartMedia Cards (as I have a few)
Macro capabilities
I can get Fuji, Canon and HP through Ingram Micro and Fuji S601 seems to be the current fave, except (a) I can get refurb cheaper at Morgan Computer and (b) I don't like the form factor - it doesn't look like a camera!
What about Nikon, etc. Help! I just need a concensus. The last camera I paid decent money for was a Pentax ME Super in 1981!
Cheers
Lee.

Canon Ixus V3
Only slight letdown from your spec is the optical zomm at 2x only.
...and go look at the reviews at www.dpreview.com
Martin
BTW I'm a Canonhead, so don't expect me to suggest anything else![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I bought an Minolta F100 - 4mega pixel + 3* Zoom and small camera like form factor...
Battery life is much better than my previous Ricoh and the images are great!
Oh and it has a 'tracking autofocus' whatever that is![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I paid £299 in local shop and got a charger and batteries thrown in + picked up a 256mb SD Card for £74![Cool](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
That was a few weeks back so you may be able to get a better deal now!

Minolta s414 is a 4meg with 4 x optical zoom, £250 if you can find them in stock. I would have bought on if I could find on anywhere.
I bought the Olympus c50z duty free @ dixons for £370 = 5 megapixel and 3 x optical zoom.

Fuji have amongst the best lenses. Best buy in macuser was a Konica model and another on that did well was by Kyocera whcih was suprising. Some of the less well established brands are pretty agressive on pricing.
You may find Jessops cheaper than distribution due to the vast quantities they buy direct from the manufacturers.
My Nikon 775 was £219 with VAT from Jessops when the cost was £279 via distribution so VAT tpo be added !
