Nightmare , I did the same thing when I played it. my saved game had no amo and a cr@p gun. Try running back the way for a bit.

Dave - If you are running from the HDD, then there is a trainer available.

Basically its possible to replace the the x-box standard 8 or 10 Gb Hard Disk with a nice fat 120Gb+ drive, then replace the MS dashboard with something more . . er . . functional 
Once chipped you can run all sorts of fancy software to make it into a total home media centre. Play/stream MP3's, watch divx movies, use linux you name it - you can do it
It also has the added advantage of being able to backup your games and run them from the HDD so you don't have to keep changing your discs all the time, transporting or ruining them.
There is a little bit of room on the standard HDD for a game or two, so all you need is a chip and a little bit of know-how.
The alternative is to patch the default.xbe of the game and burn to dvd-r to be able to use the trainers.
