My mate's just suffered a detached retina and has 6 months recuperation and currently can't leave the house.

Since surgery, he had a relapse and now every little bit of light hurts immesely for him. He struggles to watch tv, never mind read.

I thought I'd download some audiobooks for him to play on his CD Walkman - but they're huge. A novel typically is 340MB of MP3 (approx 20 x 45min segments)

So, I thought I'd get and loan him an Apple iPod (10GB) [Windows]. I was wondering where the cheapest place would be to buy one ?

Daz, Apple are like some other top brands, they have a VERY tight pricing policy. SO....all prices are pretty much the same if not exactly the same.
I would try Allan B at Mac Warehouse or the Apple store online.
PS New iPod is due, possibly on Monday - big satellite broadcast event from Apple!!!!
Any other questions, just ask!

PS I have one and yes, it's awesome!!

DigitalWay (www.mpio.com) are launching their iPod killer imminently. We should be getting them into stock by the end of next week.

You can see the US version of it (eDigital Odyssey 1000) here.

Retail's going to be £299.99 for 20GB and I think that it's really going to give the iPod a run for its money.

Cheers

Lee.

Ah, there's a new model due ?

I think I'll hold on for a little while - I'd hate mine to be redundant the moment I bought it.

Its about time the ipod had some competition. Its not just the hardware thats good , the software they come with good and the whole system is very easy to use. It can also be used as a firewire hardrive so is great for handling other files .

A new ipod is not official but quite possible.

DazV if you need any help I'm on holiday next week so contact ben.markwick@eu,mwhse,com or call him on 08705209555 mention my name and say you are from Scoobynet and he'll do what we can to help.

Margins are crap on these so please don't expect to get much if anything of. We make just a few of quid on these.
