Checkbox - allow LAN card to save power - WHY!??

Sheesh, yet again, I fit another LAN card and it defaults to automatically allowing the LAN card to save power (drop the bloody connection)
Why oh why do they do this ? Causes no end of bother with some of the apps we run!
