what prog opens .ART picture files? W2K could just by opening the standard My Documents folder. Doesnt work in XP. The properties quote as jpeg format.

Any ideas?

As far as I'm aware the only program which can display ART files is the AOL internet browser

W2K can view them from the my pictures folder. It automatically had a thumbnail view of them, but on XP it doesnt recognise them

IIRC you can rename the .art extension .jpg and they will view.

You can view them with internet explorer.

yeah you can view them with IE & rename them as jpegs but all all standard picture programs dont recognise them.

Is there some other naming setting in the attributes that can be changed?

This is the only real complaint i have with XP atm

When you send a file through AOL is compresses it and adds .art to it

So I dont think most SW packages would be able to uncompress then

must be a XP/AOL thing then cos it worked perfectly fine with W2K which means i cant save any pics atm hmmpf
