I am considering changing my email program from Outlook Express to Outlook so I can fully utilise my PDA & sync my mail.
Can I transfer my existing outlook Express mail folders to Outlook? Is this painless? (Stupid question when it involves any of Mr Gates' products )

Yes, you can export your mail in a variety of formats. For addresses you can use a CSV file, and use the microsoft mail format for mail.
Make sure you take a backup of the mail folder first though

IIRC there is an import feature in Outlook which will search for and import existing email accounts, messages and contacts during the initial setup.
