I am having trouble getting RMI to work and was hoping that someone could help me out as it's driving me mad. When I try to create the remote object I keep getting the following error:

java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost:1024- listen,resolve)

I have tried setting a policy file for it, but it doesn't seem to help.

Thanks in advance

If the policy has been defined correctly, it sounds like Java can't find the file, so try specifying it explicitly;

java -Djava.security.policy=D:\mydir\java.policy my.rmi.client.App
