I have the 1.5 version and whenever i try to join an internet server, i get a message along the lines of: You can't join because you operate under a different protocol.

Well, internet runs on IP & if you have your client set to IPX, there's no way you'll connect 'cos its like telling everyone the football results in a scotish bar when you speak a local dialect of Martian 
You would use IPX (possibly) in a LAN environment but it won't work on an internet game. IP & IPX are the protocols refered to.

ermmm eveyone seems to be on the wrong track - reason why it syas wrong protocol is because the server u connected to is running a differnet version of cs! cs.15. is current lastest BUT there are some beta 1.6 servers out there testing with beta copies of cs 1.6
runnoing steam. Make sure the servers you connect to is running cs 1.5 Hope this helps
Also olderver version of cs will not work with cs 1.5 - just find a diffent server try my server on 194.216.134.253:27015 or
194.216.134.253:27010 - Note the 2nd server has custom maps so be patient when u connect to it. First server runs standard cs1.5 maps. HAve fun!

Came & played on your #1 server - not bad & seemingly cheat-free I don't get a great ping there but I'm only HH anyway so used to it.
Some of the bods on there are quite happy to stay on the winning side & the CT team on Dust2 were playing well together. Shame the Ts were so disorganinsed

Glad u like the server puff - I havent played cs for the past month due to health issues but i play on the server as Tsunami. We try to keep the servers cheat free as much possible and perm ban any cheats we find + try to keep up to date with the patches. I havent been on ther server for nearly 2 months due to health issues. Once these are sorted out expect to see me on the server on a regualr basis At the moment u might expect me to see me on the server once in a while for short period of times depending how im feeling. Keep visiting and if u see shockwave playing, play on his team watch a real pro goto work Note to p1fanatic :Thought u get round to seeing this mail at some point si !

Ahh, wondered what your CS nick was PMTW. 
Since a format a few weeks back I cannot hit a thing, it aint the XP mouse lag and it aint the cmd/update rates.
Gonna get the **** very soon, gonna chuck the puta through the window if I don't improve.

Lo Chris m8 - you need to work on that post count dude!
I havent played in about 2 months. May well have a crack when I sort out my gfx card. Not sure if Scott told you but I bought a Sapphire Radeon 9500 PRO 128mb but it was faulty so Ive just RMA'd it. Should get a replacement this week.
