I have been asked to look over the spec of a network being installed in a friends office. In the spec the server is running sbs2000, which has terminal services built in. The spec is also quoting for “Terminal server” at £3000 with what looks like 18 licences. Why would my friends office need these if sbs already has it running. I also think they should be installing sbs2003. The company who are doing it are arguing that 2000 has all the flaws ironed out. As this is a new network I think they would be better with 2003.

Your thoughts please.

Thanks

Jeremy

Any remote clients using Windows Terminal Services?

Terminal Server could refer to a hardware device to connect Unix terminals over an IP LAN.

SBS 2003 is only at Release Candidate stage. IMHO, you'd be mad to impliment a RC or even the first gold release of SBS 2003. Is there a feature in SBS 2003 they must have? If not, go with the tried and tested 2000.

Chris.
