Slap the user round the head, and tell him to fix it himself.
Take your time over it so he has to suffer.
Have a look at this, see if it helps.

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
A user has installed a set of third party icons on their PC![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I have just come to it & set up a new user and all the default NT icons are showing as 'Unknown Filetype' icons (the windows flag)
My Computer
Recycle Bin
Network Neighbourhood
etc.
Any idea how to restore the proper icon set?
I *think* its something to do with the NTuser.dat file in the 'Default User' profile - but is it just the case of copying accross this file from another workstation or will this knacker other much more major things?
TIA....

Don't copy NTUSER.DAT. Do you get the same problem if you log onto another machine as the user?
Couple of things to try (may or may not work)
-Try applying service packing the PC again.
-Download NT power toys from Microsoft. There's an option to restore the default icons (I think)
-Many of the share icon editors also allow you to restore the default icons.
There will be other ways to fix this but I don't have an NT4 machine to hand to try and work it out. I'll have a look when I'm back at work on Monday.

Thanks for the replies![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Hooksin - I uninstalled the icon set and this is what it left - great huh!
Foottapper - I saw that KB article myself, but it doesnt fix the My Computer or Network Neighbourhood icons.....
Will try the reinstall SP first - sounds easiest....
p.s I did slap the user! (well wanted too.....!)
