Win 2k and USB ports not detecting

Hi ya, very problem. The USB ports dont seem to be detecting my USB or camera yet its found my MS mouse.
Tried the latest drivers but still no luck. When i plug my pen in, in system its coming up as unknown device.
Any ideas?

Are they USB 2.0 or USB 1.0 ports? I have found that USB 2.0 ports will only detect USB 2.0 devices where as USB 1.0 ports will detect both. This is my experience with Windows XP anyway.
