How long do you reckon it would take from opening the book to picking up your completion certificate.

Assume you are left alone to get on with it without interruption of normal daily routine work ?

5 days ? 5 weeks ? 5 Months ?

A+ is CompTIA, not Microsoft.

I don't have A+, but I've got Network+. Took me a one week course, followed by revision and practice exam questions, then a couple of hours per night in the four evenings prior to the exam. Scored >90%.

It's difficult to say how long A+ would take without knowing what you are doing at the mooment. If you are already building/repairing PCs that's a help. It should be possible with 5 weeks full-time study.

Good luck.

5 weeks for A+, you are kidding?

If you've already mucked about with IT you should get this within a week easy.

If your in a busy active IT Support Dept who fixes hardware you should **** it.

I know people who have walked in and took the exam and passed.

A lot of it is arcane knowledge like memory address ranges for serial ports etc. - to any 'old school' IT technician its easy.

Lust4Life - I did say that it is difficult to estimate how long it would take without a bit more background information. I completely agree that if someone is already competent in IT, then a week should do it.

However, about 15 years ago I worked in the configuration workshop of a PC distributor. Some of the config engineers were really good and (if A+ had been available at the time) would have passed without any additional study. Some of the others would still be doing resits......
