Interesting news received from our internal IT dept this morning:
"We also have advance notice that this weekend, 16 August, the virus could attack again in a slightly different format - attacking 'Microsoft windows update', Microsoft's Internet site used for distributing software upgrades and security patches. Due to this, we will be monitoring the network to reduce the risk, and if necessary, may block access to the Internet at certain times."
Anyone else heard about this? I think it would be wise to make sure you have your PC correctly patched now!

"The worm contains a payload to initiate a Denial of Service attack against windowsupdate.com after August 16. This payload involves sending SYN packets to windowsupdate.com on TCP port 80 for the purpose of preventing users from patching their systems via Windows Update. "

They should run just fine, but, if you have a subscription licence - which is very likely - then you're entitled to Version 7 which is a far better version than the one you're running currently.

Its a bit of a cheeky question but do SN members get a discount? I need to renew a 50 user, Vscan, Netshield and Groupshield licence/subscription in the very near future......

If I was in sales yes, but as I'm not all I can give is free advise. Send me a mail when it's time for renewal and I'll make sure you're treated well.

JackClark,
Just a quick question. We also run Virusscan 4.5.1 on our Corp Net. However we have Verision 7 ready to roll out but were told not to as it had problems in our environment (WinNT SP4). Is this correct?
Sorry for going OT. Mail me if you like...

No worries, I've not heard of any conflict, but I'm not in support. If it helps, the majority of machines here at work are NT4 - SP4 I think - and are running just fine.
