I'm looking to source a decent spec PC and large monitor (21" or better) for a friend who's into Landscape Design. Spec'ed one on Dell's site with 21" monitor, came to about £1300 inc VAT. Can anyone suggest a better (cheaper) alternative?

Ta muchly

Cheap is not always best.

Dell's prices are very competitive and generally, you will not find cheaper considering the support you receive etc.

I'd agree with darlodge. Dell customer service has improved significantly over the last year or so. Prices are keen, kit is good quality, delivery is fast too.

Fair comment, guys.

We've used Dell PCs at work for years with little problem. Told the chap concerned about the Dell I'd seen, wasn't fazed by the price at all.

Thanks

Well....The service was very poor. They just did not seem to care at all!

Near the end a sent them a snoty email explain my thoughts.

Needless to say, they did not respond, apart from the automated reply confirming receipt!

Its Buck BTW!

I have a 21" iiyama vision master pro 511 but much prefer my iiyama 18" AS4611UT... I would not recommend a crt anymore - even my 15" iiyama pro lite 38a is nicer except for the size.

As for the base unit... get a bespoke one made to your personal specs.. that way you get exactly what you need instead of all the periferal crap that usually come with off the shelf crap
