TFT screens aren't great if playing fast moving games. I've tried it my Dell all-singing&dancing tft screen and while it's fine for C&C Generals - I don't think it'll pass the Quake III test...

Looks the mutts nutts though.

Both the NEC and Hitachi are ideal for FPS as they have 16ms refresh. I've had the Hitachi for about a year or so and would never go back to a monitor now as the colours and screen are so much clearer, espicailly if you can utilise the DVI inputs both those screens have. Just to note the Hitachi has both VGA dn DVI cables in the box.

Steve, is the TFT really as good as a CRT for FPS gaming?

In a word yes, I play UT2003, Battlefield 1942 etc and also things like C&C Generals and I get NO ghosting or blurring of the image.

My Philips Brilliance 150 has a 25ms response and bluuuuuuuuuuurrrs like mad. It was a PcPro A-List about 2 yrs ago so wasnt cheap. I just use it for coding etc now and got the CRT back out for FPS games. Would still like to use a panel only for the desk space if nothing else but just dont trust that the current technology cuts it

Belive me I wouldnt recommend it unless it was good. I went through a lot of pain finding a decent panel, I tried ones with 25-30ms and they were awful, the ones with 16ms are as good if not better than a monitor in terms of moving images and far better for everything else. Oh and Mr Footlong has the NEC which following my recommendation and he loves it

Hmmm, I'll look out for them and see if I can get a demo. Thanks for the guidance.

Do you know anything about the new panel technology that was due to appear around this time. Supposed to be even better and supposedly what gamers have been waiting for?

Be just my luck to have another go at buying a panel just before a price dip and something even better arrives

Just had a look at PC Pro (bored at work) and Oct issue has flat panel test special, nearly everything in there is 16MS response time!!

Should have no problems with a decent spec flat

Got that Hitachi one. Can't fault it at all. FPS or any game for that matter looks ace coz of excellent 16ms refresh rate. Definitely recommend it.
