Does anybody know how to disable the CDROM on a client machine of Refhad Linux 7.3 similar to how you can as admin in Windows?

no, in Windows you can disable any drive as admin (this includes cdrom drives). Was wondering if you could do the same in Linux.

Delete or comment out the entry for the cdrom in /etc/fstab, it then wont be mountable and since the file's owned by root, normal users won't be able to modify it.

As Steve says....or, for convenience, keep the entry in /etc/fstab but make it mountable by root only :

/dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 ro

by removing the 'user' from the line, you will effectivly dissable the drive for all users except root.
