Easiest way to backup small hard drive(4Gig)
#1
Hello
Due to my Pc conking out every so often which causes it to fail to detect any hard drives i want to backup my data.
I have a dvd rw drive.
i have tried dragging all the data from disk C using Nero 5.5 ready to burn to the Dvdr but some of the programs are obviously in use,so i cant get it to work.
I have also tried doing the HD backup that Nero can do,but it comes up with....
Backup all partitions 4104 mb req cdrs 7 drive used
and under that it says...
1:FAT 32 4095 mb cdrs7 drive C used 80%
but there is a warning with this one saying file system may be in use!!.
cant i just stick all my data onto one dvdr so that when my pc does fail for good i can just use the dvdr and load my old files from this.??
Hope someone can help.i do have another 40Gb drive that i use purely for my d/loads only.
thanks

use XCopy from a DOS prompt to copy your data to your other disk (installed as a slave drive). If necessary use one or combination of Xcopy's many switches - to see them simply type xcopy /? at the prompt.
