Just had the worst 2 days of our business....
Got called on thursday morning by the fire service to say that there had been a fire in our office. Then i get called to say that i might want to get down to the office as soon as possible to see what has happened.
Our sister company (a web design company) has space next door to us.It seemed that before midnight there had been some sort of electrical fire that had steadily built up into a pure heat fire.No flames, just intense heat and smoke. The desk where it started literally melted and then the heat just spread around the room melting everything it touched and then smoked the rest.
It nearly broke into our offices next door but was caught in time.
Unfortunately our office was smiked as well but the worst part was that all our servers were located in the burnt office.therefore we have had all our mail, file, print servers melted. We have lost all the network, power, light etc.
The smell is something else and everything you touch is black.
Toady we have started the clean up operation after the insurance ppl have been and everything is a write off.The compaq servers are been sent away for data recovery and we are in the process of attempting to recover our backup on swing servers.
There is more to tell but as my keyboard is now black from typing i will leave the pictures to tell the rest of the story..

Did you have offsite backups? Are those SGI 02's that have melted? At least no one was hurt.

thanks for all your comments guys.
yes it was lucky that no-one was involved, as machines and possessions can be replaced, but it just illustrates how the two dont mix...
Everything is a write off, we are awaiting the data recovery guy's report on the server drives. We hope to back in operation very soon, but in the meantime our sister company is homeless.
Amazingly the fish survived!! The tank was completely black but the beggers were still swimming around...
thx once again for all your messages and will post on happier related times once we are back up and running.
