I was loading in a few programs then a box popped up that said my HD was full. I right clicked it in My Computer and it said the capacity is only 2 GIG.... This computer is 30 GIG???? Have I done something wrong when I loaded up Windows??

Thanks

Hello

You probably partitioned your drive and put windows on the 2gb partition.

Of you open the Disk Management tool, you should be able to format and create the other partition.

It's extremely annoying that Windows sometimes does this if you are not paying attention.

Probably formatted as FAT16 instead of FAT32.

What version of Windows? 9x/ME don't have the Disk Management snap-in.

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked the disk management and there is a 2mb partition. How do I merge it so that I get the other 36 mb back? Do I loose all my files?

You'll need something like Partition Magic to do it 'on-the-fly'. Windows can't extend a parition on it's own. You could create a secondary partition to use the free space to act as a D or E drive if you don't have PM or a similar tool.

As Chris said, something like partition magic.

Oh, and make sure that you backup EVERYTHING, just in case it goes **** up. Its rare for it to fail or muck up but once you started you can't roll back.
